Tea Cup Challenge Revisited

Tea Cup Challenge Revisited

Guild members decided, as part of our 50th Anniversary Celebrations, to revisit the original Tea Cup Weaving Challenge that took place early in our guild’s history.  The original challenge was to weave table runners but we decided placemats were this year’s challenge choice. Twelve members brought their tea cups and coffee mugs to the February meeting. Cups and mugs were randomly chosen by participants to be returned at the June meeting accompanied by 2 placemats. Many hours of planning, sampling, and finally weaving took place over the next few months. It was amazing to see all the different interpretations, designs, and various weave structures that were chosen by the weavers to complement the colours of the cups. Thank you to those who participated and shared their creativity and passion for weaving. Special thanks to Michele and Barbara for taking on this challenge and making the reveal a huge success. The cake was especially delicious!
